Additive Manufacturing (AM) opens up the potential to create uniquely complex structural forms, including localised composition gradients and functional coatings that need to be explored, optimised and translated.

The Hub is uniquely positioned to gain a deeper understanding of an array of these AM technologies, and enable integration between advanced and traditional manufacturing processes.

The Hub has conducted significant work on the processing parameters and microstructure property relationships for Aluminium alloys (AlSi10Mg, AS7G06) and Nickel alloys (Hastelloy X and Inconel 738). This includes optimisation of Selective Laser Melting (SLM) parameters, post-processing parameters, and extensive tensile and fatigue testing data at room temperature and elevated temperatures (for Nickel alloys).
